The Birth Story of Ella Adige. Every birth is different and unpredictable . Morgan contacted me during the Covid19 pandemic .She hired me over the phone! We did meet in person as well. She knew my long time birth and photographer expertise were what she desired .
Labor began on the morning of August 19, 2020 we kept in touch that day and shortly after midnight August 20 I joined them in their home. I remained with them the entire labor , birth and postpartum. She chose to transfer to St Vincent's Southside . And Baby Ella was born at 8:06 am on August 21, 2020.
I will blog more details of her birth story over on my Doula website when mom is ready to share more details. http://gracefulbeginningsdoulaservices.com
For now enjoy this beautiful video fusion as her labor and birth unfolds.....
As a past breastfeeding mother and one that did not use a pacifier I knew early on I wanted to do things different than others. I follow baby and mothers lead when it comes to a session . I also bring everything I need to your home. Lets face it babies hate car seats and just need to nurse and often in the early weeks and months. It is not pleasant trying to leave for a session. Need help getting ready? No problem .
I am now offering sessions in my new HOME studio. It is a option I have wanted to offer especially for families who share they don't want feel they have what they want or the idea of cleaning (which is not needed imo )
So I approach things naturally. If baby needs to nurse or is fussy, don't fret. I love documenting REAL LIFE baby nursing in your arms . Laying in your bed . Littles running around the house.
If your baby is settled after nursing then I will work on some of those cute outfits and poses. Here are a few various lovely sessions .

Jobs lost, schools closed now until the fall.
I have been doing small photography sessions for close friends to document special times. I even participated in a VERY small church wedding at the end of March.
Like the prom dresses your teen has and was robbed of their prom , let me freeze time for them.
Let them get all dressed up and I photograph them.
Children are still growing! I can still photograph precious moments with my professional lenses ! AT A SAFE DISTANCE ! I already do documentary style sessions using my 70-200 mm 2.8 Lens.
Some ideas for you all :
Maternity Sessions
Senior Sessions
Family Sessions
Prom Dress Sessions
Private Weddings in your yard.....
I am offering special pricing for these "Distance Sessions " Lets chat ! I am offering sessions starting at $225.00 for your choice of 5 digital downloads from a private link of all your session. More are options available .
These times are difficult financially , mentally and emotionally . As a professional photographer, Birth Photographer and Birth doula I have lost my sole income to provide for my family .

Mother Nature is unpredictable here in Florida. And that day there was a strong Nor' easter. It was windy, drizzle and in the lower 50's .
Their beach wedding was moved to the Bayfront . At the Bayfront Marin House. It was not what she planned but we made it a joyous day and I assured her my eating skills would show a much less grey day.
Congratulations and Thank you for trusting me with your special day .
Here is a Video Fusion I put together for them :
Pauline and Brad Wedding March 17, 2019 from Lisa Olschewske Photography on Vimeo.
Back in February I attended my first Daytona birth. It was at Halifax Hospital. With Dr Pamela Carbiener. First let me just say I was a little worried attending a birth there, I was her birth doula and birth photographer. I had heard horror stories in the past . There are not many local doulas in that area either.
Dr Carbiener was so supportive of Amanda and her 'prodromal ' labor. When mom seemed to stall for hours at 7 cm again Dr C left us alone. Never rushing, labeling her etc. Many hospitals and care providers are known to label a mom failure to progress and push for pitocin and other interventions . Not Dr C .
This birth was very special. I KNEW she would achieve the natural birth she wanted. A first I as told in her family .
RJ decided to come fast and furious in the end. Dad had ran out to get the dinner as mom seem quiet and was at 7 cm as she had been all day. However after he left I noticed a change in her . And some grunts. I text dad to hurry back that I had a feeling things were changing.
Well as dad returned, Dr came in and went to check and sure enough mom was 10 cm and baby was RIGHT there.
Her expression says it all! Thank you Dr C and Halifax Hospital for a wonderful birth experience .
Large Catholic weddings are one of my absolute favorites, being a Catholic myself. I was working with Paul Luc Chokota as well. We often shoot together especially Catholic weddings because we are known for our respect and reverence when shooting in a Catholic Church.
I pulled over in Davis Shores near this cool "castle " to photograph the initial Moonrise. And took a few other locations. I stayed outside for the entire Lunar event , here in North Florida ( St Augustine Beach) it was in the 30's with 20-30 mph winds. It was COLD TO ME. Don't laugh my northern friends. I grew up in North GA.
At least I do have good cold weather attire .
Enjoy!
I am heartbroken that this hurricane will cause so much devastation . We have been thru two major back to back hurricanes here in St Augustine and the surrounding areas. So it is 'healing' for many to just escape and surf the swell and not have a direct hit.
I met several today at the pier that have evacuated from the North and South Carolina . The guys said hey we want to surf here even though we know our homes may be destroyed. It is healing for them in sense conquering the waves that may very likely flood their homes.
AS you surf and look at these photos keep that in mind. That these waive bring fun and devastation.
You have my prayers!

Welcome Athena!
This was the third birth I was her doula and photographer twice before. This time she chose a Homebirth ! Her last birth was very fast and I had suggested it.
She txt me at 8:20 pm June 12 that she was having some surges. That her midwife, Jacinda Golden, was on her way over. So I said I would leave as well. Knowing she had no pattern prior and went fast. She also lived about 50 minutes away. Her husband txt me again "surges are 3 minutes apart "
When I arrived I went right in and HEARD her making pushing sounds. I got my camera out and started shooting, as I touched her back to let her know I was there (she is slightly hearing impaired so needs to read lips ) she had such relief on her face. Baby Sophie was born 5 minutes later!
She weighed TEN pounds ! The look on the midwife's face is priceless!
ST Augustine Surf School donated a week! They are such a cool family and my daughter plays soccer with one of their daughters.
I stayed a few days and decided to shoot as much as I could. Cause you know surfing is FUN!
Enjoy the photos! Share with others. There are over 500 images! A slide show follows the few images I will share!

Connor Joseph was born just after sunrise and weighed 7 pounds 7 ounces. Her water had broken over 29 hrs prior and she had to be transferred to UF North to deliver due to Florida midwifery laws and birth centers.
Ashely was so strong during her surges . She also was given pitocin and anyone that knows birth knows Pit is not fun. UF North is a great hospital as far as hospitals ! They now have Nitrous to help mommas cope as well. And she definitely gave it a try.
I will write more over on my doula website about her labor and birth .
Enjoy a video fusion of his labor and birth .

Her mother and grandmother were also with us. Beverly was such a strong, laboring woman. A true warrior. I especially love being present and holding space at birth when dad ca not be there when serving our country. It is such a difficult time for families during deployment. And when I can give back these memories the last a lifetime in print. It is the least I can do.
Following a few images are the video birth story. It is not the entire birth but mom and dad have the full private birth story .

But locally there its another reason for some good surf at St Augustine Beach. See they are dredging AKA Beach renourishment project where they have large pipes going deep in the ocean and sucking sand from other areas. Many locals say this is destroying the ecosystem . Essentially yes it can as it alters the natural course of things. Then there are the beach front hotels and homes etc that need protection. The dredge headquarters is what we locals call yankee beach , at pope road. IN FRONT OF THE NEW EMBASSY SUITES that is being built. at the south end of Anastasia State park.
You can see in the photos what it look like. There are over 600 images in this album. Hey I love shooting surfers .
Also sadly there are photos of a newborn dolphin we rescued a few days ago I spotted near the dredge. We believe it was deceased already. We do not know what the cause is yet. WE called the FWC and Marineland. I will post more details later.
So if you are surfer or recognize anyone please share. All my images are copyrighted and I often share freely but ask if you like any please purchase prints you are supporting me , a local single mom and this is my livelihood.

Edit: Added more images from Downtown St Augustine tonight. The Mission , Tolomato Cemetery and the Castilo De San Marcos.
Sadly the FAMOUS Cedar tree I fondly call the "Joshua tree" did not stand to Irma's power. So many photo sessions were done there.
Sunset at the Pier looking west
The Dance Company's boarded up windows telling Irma she can not dance !
TONS of these gorgeous shells on the beach tonight
Debris and surfers not really safe to surf yet the water is gross
The clouds parted and opened up like heaven JUST in time. We had around 90% here but IDK. They ran out of the free glasses but some kind folks literally let us try theirs it was cool. Like I recalled as a child in 1979.
I used my Nikon D750 with my 105mm lens mostly shot at ISO 80 I did not take many as I also used my old canon ae-1 with bw film .
NO I did not use a filter. I broke all the rules lol. The cool pat was really the present shadows on the ground throughout the trees. Which you will see. We did not have total darkness. IT was HOT like more than usual .
I also did her maternity session and I had a feeling she was carrying a boy!
For their newborn session I did a combination of some posed and some lifestyle . But it was mostly a lifestyle session since Nicholas whom was just 8 days old needed to nurse a lot and was not a sleeping baby .
I will also be photographing his baptism in a few weeks.
This was around Christmas 2016 their family session and though she did not know it then , there was a baby growing inside her.
We tried a few posed but he just did not enjoy being out of mom's arms , so being a attachment parenting family , most photos were in arms.
At mom's request I tried to mimic a few image styles she had previously when her others were newborns. Mom was very pleased with the result.
This couple is so loving. I just adore them
Mom txt around 12:30 am her bag of water had released in bed. But she got up and cleaned up and laid back down , or tried too. Around 1:53 am she txt she felt sick and the pain was more intense her lower belly (insert a English accent ) a few minutes later she txt me to come over. I called her to listen to her breathing and decided that she should meet me at Flagler since this was her 3rd and there was no real pattern.
She met me at the hospital around 2:50 am and we walked to LDR together . Triage was slow! She was checked and she was 9 CM! Mom hit transition and was asking for a epidural . She wanted the low intervention room but since she 'verbally asked for a epidural" they wheeled her to a 'regular " room. Things went super fast as she was in the room we helped her onto the bed and I heard pushing sounds. Baby Ryan was born quickly after a few pushes at 3:15 am! He weighed 8 pounds and 9 oz.
Mom achieved the natural birth she wanted! After two previous medicated births.
I was also her birth doula and photographer but dad was serving as main support as he desired too and did a wonderful job!
Just after mom was helped into the bed she grabbed the bar as she was pushing.
A few pushes and Baby Ryan was pulled up to her chest with dad's help

It was a hot day in the sun. IT was a first time for Ethan (14) and Felicity (11) competing in the Junior Lifeguard Competition.
Felicity and Ethan were the only two representing our county, St Johns. They did their best against some brutal competition. Clearly south Florida is all about swim team. And VERY competitive. Felicity took SECOND place in the Beach flag race. She is the cute blonde in the Red swimsuit. With the face of determination .
We will go on to the Nationals in a few weeks that will be closer to home , in Daytona.

The beach side suffered extensive damage as did the surrounding areas, and had remained closed. As you drive south on A1A the damage is still very evident and heartbreaking. While many think all is back to normal , it is far from it. To some it is a new normal . What ever that may be. Our town took on the name St Augustine Strong. And we are and have been.
Our area still has a long way to go in the rebuilding process.
Today I took the short drive with a few of my children whom had not yet seen the extensive damage along A1A south. I had read in an email from The friends of Washington Oaks http://www.washingtonoaks.org/ that the coquina beach side had reopened! I videoed with my iphone the short drive there. And of course took many photos of the park to share with you all what it now looks like.
Driving into the park you see the trees and palms are all dead due to the ocean water that flooded. The new look of the parking lot was a surprise, half of the parking lot collapsed and there was still water to one side. The boardwalk, that was new was gone. The dunes and vegetation were gone. They put up a rubber like path as a short beach access.
The beach was totally changed. There were small pieces of coquina everywhere . But the large coquina rocks were still there. It is so much fun but you need to be careful and mindful of the incoming tide. The rocks are dangerous and slippery. My kids are accustomed to the coquina and I am right there with them.
There are many photos I hope you enjoy this beautiful place. Please look at the slideshow . Then take a look at this link from 2016 of the beach http://www.zenfolio.com/lisaolschewskephotography/e/p77417538
I entered last year and again this year! Sure who would not love to 'win' one of the amazing prizes. It is more about showing through photography, the true beauty of birth. To change the views of what movies and television portrays birth as. There will be over 600 images entered.
Here are the rules of the birth image competition from the website official rules
Photograph must have been taken within the 2016 calendar year, January 1, 2016 through December 31, 2016. Members may enter one image per category: Labor, Delivery, Postpartum and Birth Details. For the purposes of this competition, the end of delivery and the beginning of postpartum is determined once the placenta has been delivered during the birth process. Postpartum images should be photographed within the first 48 hours of birth to qualify. The new Birth Details category has been included this year to feature the many beautiful details of birth that are often overlooked. This includes, hands, feet, umbilical cords, etc.
To see all the entries visit the website linked here http://birthphotographyimagecompetition.com/
The four images I entered are:
Labor "Breathing Baby down"
Birth: "Welcome Bryson; A Rainbow Baby
Details: "Tree of life, true knot , nuchal cord, Oh My!
Postpartum: "Taking in the view"

So many of dear friends lost almost all they owned in up to 6 feet of flooding! My island is in such devastation . But we have such a strong loving community . #staugustinestrong has become our motto!
As many of you know me and my older kids have been doing our best to help friends and many who flooded . Removing precious belongings to the curb. Cleaning debris, removing downed trees, making meals and so on.
This is normally the busiest time of year as families book their holiday sessions. But understandable not on the minds of those that lost their belongings and homes.
Photography has ceased basically which is part of my livelihood as a single mom ( and doula ) I want to give back to those that lost everything or almost everything. I will be offering photo sessions to those that suffered such losses . That I will verify .
It will be DONATION only . I will give my time and love to you . You will receive 1-3 (more depending on family needs) digital images . You can then, when back in your homes or new locations , order beautiful discounted prints from my website!
I am still booking fall sessions for the holidays . I still have special locations that are still in good shape to hold sessions. Sadly my favorite place is still closed .
I also have gift certificates available if you know of anyone you would like to bless with a photo session.

I've been debating doing this specific blog for a while. It concerns all the competition out there, let's face it there are a lot of photographers in the world and most certainly locally where I live.
We have websites where most everything is for public view. So people can see and admire your artistic work. It can be flattering and pretty cool when someone mimics your ideas, or mimics your composition or even goes to specific location that you have shared images of.
And then you'll see an image Facebook or Instagram and think "oh wow that looks kind like some of the photos I've done for someone."
I see a lot of this and I am a good person and assume good in everyone. I don't go and confront people unless I've seen someone point-blank still my images and remove my watermark, that's only happened a handful of times and then they promptly removed it and apologize . Cool.
They didn't know what they were doing, or so they say. Again , I will "assume good intent"
Recently I removed my birth photographer and doula fees from my website because I was doing interviews with potential clients and they would bring it to my attention that oh this person is the same price if you or this person is less than you or someone a would actually show me some the competitors in the area and the prices.
I've been in photography for a long time I've been doing this over half my life. I started out in film and switched to digital in 2009. I use Lightroom and Photoshop like many. However I like to keep images as they appear to my eyes. I will edit and remove what my clients ask, like blemishes .
Birth Photography is a competitive thing right now and it's a very popular thing but it gets really frustrating when you try to do good and assume the best of your competitors when they are bad mouthing you to the public or to people you interviewed and you find out that they have said things about you. That is a sign of true un-professionalism (and I got hired).
I guess my point with all of this is be careful this is the business world and we all know that and I try not to take things personally because in the end I know what I'm doing is my own creative style, I don't need to copy anyone because I have a lot of experience and in this town pretty much the most experience of in birth photography. I am also a certified birth doula, and that is a huge plus because I know birth! I have been a "volunteer breastfeeding support person " since 1997 , so breastfeeding images are also a long time passion.
But we have to face it in this world there are dishonest people, a lot of insecure people, a lot of people with passive aggressive behaviors. I've seen it first hand. I read about other photographers across the world that also deal with it. I am on several birth photographer FB groups, and a few share the same stories, and worse!
I'm just going to keep doing what I'm doing, do my best like I always have and do my own work and if someone copies my 'art' I guess I need to look at as a compliment that I am better than they are in their eyes.
Be creative. Be genuine .
Photography preserves memories. Photography gives you a way to share your story of life for future generations. Allow me to capture these times for your story.

My son will 14 in Oct. He is taller than me (and I am not exactly short at 5 foot 11 ) I would guess he is 6 foot 1 or 2. He wears a size 14 cleat.
The team he is placed with is called the Buccaneers, and they have played a few games with no wins. He is in the red\orange colors and number 66. Tonight my boy scored his very first touchdown! I cringed a LOT. Seeing the many boys it took to bring him down. I prayed a LOT too.
He may have more of a future in football than I prefer, because after the game, the head coach at the local catholic high school approached us . WE had a nice discussion. They want him to come playwith the team......next year . I shared he is homeschooled.... I have much to think about.
Here are some photos from the game...

This mom told me: “I was so thankful when our baby came out crying. It’s a sound I longed to hear from Paisley and Brody — my two previous stillbirths. I also had four miscarriages. My initial thoughts were, that hurt and I’m glad it’s over. But then it hit me: He was here and he was alive. We were bringing a baby home from the hospital! It still seems like such a dream.”

We had so much fun making this a family session as well as just mom having one on one private photos.
We did a few different looks from a mermaid tale to mom splashing in the ocean. Even dad posed pretending he was pregnant. Notice in a couple of the photos a meaningful butterfly tattoo. The butterfly and each heart honors each one of their babies that have "flown away too soon".
Kelly prefered I NOT over edit her pregnant belly because her beautiful belly reveals what she had to endure 9 months . Daily heparin injections ( a blood thinner ) on her abdomen. Those faint purple spots you see are but a reminder of just how selfless a mother is.
These are natural, real pregnancy photos.
Kelly is such a stunning momma inside and out! (update to add birth photos ) here http://lisaolschewskephotography.com/blog/2016/7/welcome-bryson-st-augustine-jacksonville-birth-photographer
If you remember a previous blog post about my friends Kelly and Mike whom have suffered the unimaginable losses of 5 babies in the womb, 3 still births please read here: http://lisaolschewskephotography.com/blog/2015/8/heaven-sent
This is their Rainbow baby I posted their sweet pregnancy announcement here : http://lisaolschewskephotography.com/blog/2016/2/lynn-family-a-rainbow-baby-announcement-st-augustine-jax-family-photographer
Here in Kelly's words are her birth story ( after her story there will be a slideshow and photos ) Grab a tissue !
Bryson's birth story!
"Friday was quite the whirlwind. After seeing the midwife at 9 and finding out I was dilated 5 cms, we thought for sure things would start and Bryson would arrive. Having had contractions on Friday and Wednesday with no baby to show was frustrating. I did my best to stay busy and not get discouraged when it seemed like labor was not on the horizon. Some inconsistent and painless contractions came and went throughout the day. We stayed in Jacksonville at my moms until Mike was off and we could make sure I wasn't in labor. At dinner, I was having some mild contractions every 6 mins. We decided to stick around for a bit to see if they intensified before heading home. My dear friend and doula, Lisa, suggested I go for a walk to see what they did. I left my parent's house for a quick walk to the end of the street around 8:00. Within 10 mins, I was telling Lisa that she must hate me. She has so much love for our family so this is far from the truth. All I knew was that she encouraged my current painful surges because she knew what I needed to get my body into active labor. They went from pesky to intense and 2-3 mins apart. I kept reminding myself of Lisa's truths spoken to me in preparation for this time, it's pain with a purpose that ultimately has a beautiful end result! I extended my walk to take me around the block while she remained on the phone with me, helping me breathe through each surge. When I got back inside, I figured we would see if they calmed or if it was really time. Lisa already knew it was time but I was in denial. They didn't taper in intensity or space out. It was go time! By this time, they were 1 1/2 mins apart and getting stronger. At 9:00, I called the midwife to let her know we were heading into the hospital. The surges had become very intense so the car ride and walk to L&D were no easy feat. I'm pretty sure the valet attendant and security check in were concerned about me and ready to get me to labor and delivery ASAP. After many stops for contractions along the walk, we made it to L&D admitting at 9:45. Thankfully, my midwife arrived and had already done pre-admission preparation which made the process smoother. We got into the room and I changed my clothes. The other midwife arrived and so did my mom and doula. She checked me and told me I could push whenever I felt ready. I leaned over my birth ball and made it through a few more contractions when my water broke. I knew I needed to push with the next contraction but I didn't think I had the strength to do so. The next contraction came and within 3 pushes, he was here. So thankful he came out crying as it's a sound I longed to hear from Paisley and Brody. My initial thoughts were, that hurt and I'm glad it's over. Then it hit me, he's here and he's alive. We are bringing a baby home from the hospital! Still seems like such a dream. He was born at 10:27 pm and weighed 6 lbs 13 oz and was 19 in long. This was my first unmedicated birth and I am so thankful to have had the support of my amazing husband and doula during the process. Uncharted territory is always scary but they gave me the confidence to keep going even when things seemed impossible.
Yesterday afternoon, I had my tubal ligation done. As "easy" as this pregnancy was physically, it was an emotional roller coaster that we aren't equipped to face again. Our hearts are full! Mike has struggled more than me with the permanency of closing the door on our childbearing years. I reminded him that it's only closing the door on traditional childbearing. For now, we are blessed to be a family of 6 with 6 angels watching over us.
As for his name, both his first and middle hold a special place in my heart. When I was in nursing school, I did a rotation in pediatrics. While working the floor, I met a teenage boy named Bryson. He had a disease that altered his immune system and he developed a rare infection. I didn't spend much time with him or even know much about him. He was one of the first patients I encountered that didn't make it out of the hospital alive. Over 15 years later and I still think about him so we felt the name was special enough for our son. His middle name comes from my dad's side of the family. Every year, we spend the first weekend of April at family reunion. Every year, we look forward to seeing Uncle Kenneth, my great uncle. He knows how to light up a room and has one of the kindest hearts I've ever known. Uncle Kenneth has a special touch when it comes to kids. It doesn't matter how shy or hesitant a kid might be with strangers, he always wins their hearts in the end. So thankful for the impact of those we honor with our son's name."
This particular Mermaid tale is a size small-medium and will fit a size 6-10 . As you can see it is very stretchy on my model and seems to be a bit too loose . I *could photoshop the image drastically but being a natural photographer that just is not my style.
However if there is a huge demand in the future for Mermaid Sessions I can photoshop the images, which will require hours per image. In the meantime enjoy this beautiful mermaid mom!
Please contact me to schedule your own mermaid session!
It was such a peaceful calm water birth with the smell of her husband cooking the post delivery meal . It was so sweet. Just a few moments before his birth I called her husband in because I knew it was time. Her birth was the first time I had seen the "purple line" which I blogged about over on my doula website here http://gracefulbeginningsdoulaservices.com/2014/05/checking-dilation-without-being-checked/
Teo was born on December 7, 2012. He was 9 pounds and 4 ounces! He has a big brother named Massimo.
I have been photographing their family for several years. Enjoy some special moments from the last three years in the slideshow after these photos

The Mass was at Assumption Catholic Church in Jacksonville, Florida. My family has been blessed to know him since he entered the Seminary.
One of the most moving moments was when he presented his mother and father with two special gifts. One was called a Maniturgium ;
MANITURGIUM: A fine linen cloth, often embroidered with fine lace or some insignia, used by a newly ordained priest after annointing with holy oils. It was removed from the Rite of Ordination but is often still used by the newly ordained when they return to the sacristy to clean their hands. This MANITURGIUM is then put aside by the priest to be used to place in the hands of his deceased mother before burial. Often two were used, one for each parent. ("The Church Visible" by James-Charles Noonan, Jr.)
Here is a slideshow documentary of the entire Mass .

A brief history of OLLL from the website:
In the early 1600s, the Spanish settlers of St. Augustine established the first Shrine to the Blessed Virgin Mary in the United States. The original chapel and several reconstructions were damaged by storms and attacks. The chapel was rebuild in 1875 by Augustin Verot, first bishop of the Diocese of St. Augustine. It too fell to the ravages of a major hurricane.
The present chapel was reconstructed in 1915 and enshrines a replica of the original statue of Nuestra Señora de la Leche y Buen Parto – Our Lady of the Milk and Happy Delivery. Throughout its existence, the Shrine has remained a comforting place of prayer for mothers-to-be, for families, for special intentions and for those seeking to strengthen their faith.
As you walk through the historic grounds at the Mission, you will be retracing the steps of America’s first founding fathers more than 400 years ago. It was here that Spanish explorers founded our nation’s first permanent community and pioneer priests first planted the cross of Christianity. This is the site where western culture and Christian faith took root in our country.
We ask that, while enjoying the grounds, you kindly respect the fragile conditions of the gravestones as well as the quiet, prayerful atmosphere of the Shrine Chapel. A form is available in the Gift Shop for any comments or suggestions you may have. God bless you on your way.
Novena Prayer to Our Lady of La Leche
Lovely Lady of La Leche, most loving Mother of Jesus, and my mother, listen to my humble prayer.
Your motherly heart knows my every wish, my every need. To you only, His spotless Virgin Mother, has your Divine Son given to understand the sentiments which fill my soul. Yours was the sacred privilege of being the Mother of the Savior.
Intercede with Him now, my loving mother, that in accordance with His will (mention your request).
This I ask, O Lady of La Leche, in the name of your Divine Son, my Lord and Savior.
Amen
V. O Mary, conceived without sin.
R. Pray for us who have recourse to you.
Our Lady of La Leche pray for us.

On Wednesday March 23, 2016 at The Cathedral Basilica of St Augustine there was The Mass of Holy Chrism. The Celebrant was The Most Reverend Felipe Estevez, Bishop of St Augustine.
From Wikipedia a brief explanation of what Chrism is:
Chrism is essential for the Catholic Sacrament of Confirmation/Chrismation, and is prominently used in the sacraments of Baptism andHoly Orders. Those to be confirmed or chrismated, after receiving the laying on of hands, are anointed on the head by the bishop orpriest. In baptism, if the person baptized is not to be immediately confirmed or chrismated, the minister anoints them with chrism. Newly ordained priests are anointed with chrism on the palms of their hands, and newly ordained bishops receive an anointing of chrism on their foreheads. It is also used in the consecration of objects such as churches and altars.
Before the reforms of the Second Vatican Council, chrism had to be used to consecrate patens and chalices as well. The Sign of the Cross would be made with the chrism on the interior parts the chalice and paten where the Eucharist would rest; the Cross would then be smeared to cover the entire interior parts. The chalice and paten would need to be consecrated with the chrism again if they were re-gilded. This ritual could only be performed by a Bishop or a priest with the faculties to do so. According to the rubrics, a simple blessing suffices. However, it is still permitted that the bishop performs the consecration with chrism.
Chrism is made of olive oil and is scented with a sweet perfume, usually balsam. Under normal circumstances, chrism is consecrated by the bishop of the particular church in the presence of the presbyterium at the Mass of the Chrism, which takes place in the morning of Holy Thursday. The oil of catechumens and the oil of the sick are also blessed at this Mass.
These holy oils are usually stored in special vessels known as chrismaria and kept in a cabinet known as an ambry. When the oils are distributed to a priest for him to use in his ministry they are kept in a smaller vessel with three compartments, known as an "oil stock". There is also a type of oil stock that is shaped like a ring, to make the anointing easier. The "jewel" of the ring is a container with a removable lid.
The Holy Ampulla or Holy Ampoule (Sainte Ampoule in French) was a glass vial which, from its first recorded use by Pope Innocent II for the anointing of Louis VII in 1131[4] to the coronation of Louis XVI in 1774, held the chrism or anointing oil for the coronation of the kings of France. Said to have been discovered by Hincmar the Archbishop of Reims when the sepulcher containing the body of Saint Remi was opened in the reign of Charles the Bald and identified with the baptism of Clovis I, the first Frankish king converted to Christianity; it was kept thereafter in the Abbey of Saint-Remi, Reims and brought with formality to the Cathedral of Notre-Dame, Reims at each coronation, where the emphasis was on the anointment rather than on the crowning.[5] Some remains of the content of the ampoule, destroyed in 1793 by French revolutionaries, were placed in a new reliquary made in time for the coronation of Charles X[6] and are kept since 1906 at the Archbishopric of Reims.[7]

Blessing of the Fleet in St. Augustine is a historical ceremony dating back to the city’s earliest days of Spanish colonial occupation. This event invites all vessels, commercial and pleasure, to receive a blessing from the Bishop of the Diocese of St. Augustine.
This tradition has roots from the Spanish Colonial days when seafaring vessels would be blessed so as to have a safe journey. Each vessel is encouraged to decorate with flags and bunting as well.

If you have followed my blog I posted last year, click here to read their story http://lisaolschewskephotography.com/blog/2015/8/heaven-sent the bereavement stories of my friend's the Lynn's and their 6 losses.
Some may ask, "What is a rainbow baby?"
" A 'rainbow baby" is a baby that is born following a miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal death or infant loss.
In the real world, a beautiful and bright rainbow follows a storm and gives hope of things getting better.
The rainbow is more appreciated having just experienced the storm in comparison"
The rainbow has deep Christian roots taken from the bible Genesis 9:13-16
"I will set my bow in the clouds; and it shall be the sign
of a covenant between me and between the earth.
And when I shall cover the sky with clouds, my bow shall appear in the clouds:
and I will remember my covenant with you, with every living soul that beareth flash;
and there shall no more be water of a flood to destroy all flesh.
and the bow shall be in the clouds and I shall see it, and shall remember the everlasting
covenant, that was made between God and every living soul of all flash which is upon the earth."
Anyone that has suffered a loss and subsequent "rainbow pregnancy' knows the extreme fear and anxiety that follow. This is a wonderful read http://www.huffingtonpost.com/heather-spohr/to-the-mother-of-a-rainbow-baby_b_8399400.html
I am so happy and excited, yet also having been by there side during their losses, I am also anxious . I am looking forward to sharing Bryson's birth with you in July!

The Prince of Peace Votive Church at the Mission has been under renovation since February 2015, with 2,500 square feet added to the church, which now serves as the Shrine of Our Lady of La Leche. A chapel has been added to the shrine dedicated to Prince of Peace and the intercession of Our Lady of Fatima.
A new altar configuration features a large statue of Our Lady of La Leche and smaller statues depicting St. Joseph, St. Francis of Assisi, St. Katherine Drexel, and St. Kateri Tekawitha, all of whom have been influential in the history of St. Augustine, America's first parish.
October 11 was approved in 2012 by the Vatican as an annual diocesan feast-day to honor Our Lady of La Leche.

On this day last year, August 6, 2014, I was with my friend Kelly as her daughter Paisley Jane whose soul was born into heaven. Her little 8 inch body weighed just 4.8 oz at 18 weeks. She joined Curtis, Aubrey, and Maverik. And as heartbreaking as this already is after Paisley two more children, Carly and Brody were born into heaven. I was also with them when Brody was born (just 6 weeks ago) If you ask them how many children do they have, they will tell you 9, 6 are in heaven and 3 are here .
I first met Kelly at a local breastfeeding event and took photos of another of their children as she carried him on her back in one of her beautiful wraps. Knowing the pain I felt with my losses, I wanted to be there for them as a bereavement doula and photographer.I knew it would not be easy, but I prayed silently in my heart to be able to console them. A year later (with Kelly's permission) I am sharing photos from Paisley and Brody's (whom passed just 6 weeks ago) birth.
I want those that have suffered losses no matter what age to know your baby IS your baby YOUR grief IS YOUR grief.
Every life is precious from conception to death. In our society most do not talk about pregnancy loss (especially early miscarriage )
Kelly and Michael Lynn both have blogs about their losses I encourage you to read them and any fathers , read Michael's blog as well. This is Kelly's blog http://angelsremembered.blogspot.com/?m=0 and Michael's is https://michaellynn2002.wordpress.com/
A Grieving Parent’s Prayer
© Bernadette Zambri
(Written June 13, 1993)
I feel unable to pray - I need Your insight in new ways to pray.
I feel abandoned - I need Your warmth.
I feel isolated from You - I need courage to take steps closer to You.
I feel hurt – I need Your healing..
I feel so sad – I need Your closeness and humour.
I feel anger, resentment and bitterness – I need Your Peace.
I feel afraid – I need Your strength.
I feel anxious – I need Your patience.
I feel that I can never trust You again – I need to feel Your Love.
These are true love and raw emotion and may be difficult to see but something everyone needs to see.
After these photos there will also be a slide show of Both Paisley and Brody.

Live Love Latch! is an event to celebrate breastfeeding and to highlight breastfeeding support. Everyone is invited to attend and sign the declaration of support. You do not need to be breastfeeding to be included. Family, friends, doctors, lactation consultants, midwives, businesses, legislators, and anyone else who supports breastfeeding in our community are welcome.
The key goal of Live, Love, Latch! is to raise awareness of how a supportive community can help nursing dyads breastfeed successfully. The secondary goal is to break the previous year's record for breastfeeding supporters attending. Last year's national record was 9,028! In the spirit of the Surgeon General's Call to Action to Support Breastfeeding, this celebration provides an opportunity to educate everyone about how they can be supportive to breastfeeding families and how this natural way of parenting effects the community as a whole.
Join the Jacksonville community on August 22, 2015 at the Karpeles Manuscript Library Museum. Here is the Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/LiveLoveLatchJacksonville?fref=ts

I was so blessed to be able to attend Solemn Vespers at the Cathedral Basilica of St Augustine tonight as our parish held the Reception of the Relic of Saint Augustine. My son was one of the altar servers, the Cross Bearer. I did not use a flash tonight in order to uphold the reverence of this vespers so the photos may appear 'grainy'.
With the 450th anniversary of the founding of St. Augustine and the establishment of Catholicism in the United States being celebrated this summer, the Diocese of St. Augustine announced , after talks with the Vatican and Italy, a relic of Augustine of Hippo, the theologian the city was named after, will be featured on the First Coast.
Father Thomas Willis, the Pastor of the Cathedral Basilica of St Augustine, held Vespers on July 7th at 7 PM welcoming the reliquary, part of the Vatican Treasury, to the diocese:
“What a wonderful gift this is to have a major relic come to the city, parish and cathedral that bears the name of one of history’s most notable and intellectual people,” said Father Willis on Wednesday. “Augustine of Hippo is known among Christians as the ‘sinner turned saint.’ His story of conversion to God is so relevant to our contemporary era.
“To have this significant relic on loan to the diocese and the Cathedral Basilica during our Jubilee Year, celebrating the 450th anniversary of the founding of America’s first parish, is, indeed, a blessing,” added Father Willis. “I hope that many people will come and make a pilgrimage to the cathedral, ask our patron for his intercession and be renewed in the beauty of the Catholic faith that Augustine taught so well.”

I served as a Extra Ordinary Eucharistic Minister so I did not take photos of them Receiving their First Holy Communion. But I captured a few precious moments before and after . I was also approached by a beautiful family that asked me to take their family photos after Mass. Apparently they had hired another professional photographer that did not show up! I was so sad for them and agreed to capture precious family moments.
I did not use a flash during the Mass to keep the Reverence and respect due . I did use a flash for the group shots after the Holy Mass.
I am so happy I grabbed my camera bag today!

This was the first birth I was just the birth photographer and not doula . However I have been to many births as a doula/photographer.
I arrived close to 3 am. And Leah did not appear to be in active labor . Even when she was silently pushing we could not tell! She was beautiful and amazing! Here baby was born around 5:30 am.
The gender of their baby was a surprise also. You can see in the photos the look of surprise.

My son altar served this morning at the 9 am Palm Sunday Mass and I took a few photos. I will do another more detailed photoshoot asap. But wanted to share a few photos . Mostly of the choir loft. And the new beautiful statue of Our Lady of La Leche. Locals know that the Mission and Shrine grounds has a very special to place, The Chapel where Our Lady of La Leche is .
Enjoy a sneak peak :)
My midwife arrived around 6:30 am. She told me I was "complete" but left me alone because oddly for me I had not urge to push. I hung out in the tub, then walked and walked the neighborhood.
My other children were all up puking it was so sad to hear them. The sweet birth assistant Tanya was taking care of their needs.
This went on for almost 4 hrs I recall. Then Sharon had me lay on my left side and pull my right leg up ....well that got her in position. I began to feel the urge to push. She was born quickly "facial presentation to the left"She was born at 10:42 am and was 9 pounds 8 oz and 22 1/2 inches long.
Her first year was rough, she was very high needs and colicy. I learned when she was a year she had Sensory Processing Disorder. Anyone with a SPD child knows what I mean I have two actually.
She has always been homeschooled. She is now very active in academy soccer (her thing) locally and just started violin lessons . However this week she fractured her wrist so that is all on hold.

I decided upon hearing from my oldest daughter that there was "east swell" to head out with my kids and hopefully take a few surf action photos.
The water is pretty cold right now! But it was a beautiful day and the surf was pretty narly !

The local newspaper used to cover the March however this year not a word !
Same goes for the local news they showed up after it was over at the town square . Reporting s 'low' turn out. As you will see in the 200 plus photos I have posted ( I took over 500) the March was HUGE. Stretching all the way south on San Marco Avenue to the beginning of St George Street all the way north to the Mission grounds, where it began.
I did also include photos of the VERY FEW Pro choice protesters because I believe in honest accurate reports.
We had people from Miami and the panhandle . IT was a peaceful March. Here is the link and also a slideshow.

Two years ago I was Doula at Teo's home birth, which I also captured with my camera. Since then I have taken photos for birthdays and even her parents photos.
This was a dreary, drizzling day in St Augustine, but we still managed to get some great photos. Even though the winds by the water really picked up.
If you have large families and many children you may wish to book a regular session, which is up to an hour or more for $250.00 and includes at least 25 (or more) high resolution digital images.
December Mini Sessions:
$125.00 for a 30 minute session which includes 5 professionally edited digital prints

I do not normally offer mini sessions as I feel it takes an hour or more to get children comfortable for photos, but I have had a huge demand so here goes! This is basically half price! I will still gladly book my regular hour plus photo shoots that are $250.00 with a minimum of 40 (or more) high resolution digital images!
