Most of my posts are about birth. Today I am sharing the most heartbreaking unimaginable news about one of my friends. I was her doula and photographer and was SO blessed to witness his birth and his older brother, Owen's birth. I have no words. I am so sad and heartbroken . And she is also a photographer Five Loves Photography
On March 6 , 2017 little Lukas fell and sustained a head injury . He stopped breathing . He fought 48 hours in the ICU at the Children's Hospital.
His mother words :
"After fighting so hard for 48 hours our sweet sweet beautiful little boy passed away in our arms last night. Surrounded by love.
Please don't ask me what happened I can't bear to keep repeating it. Our hearts are in a million pieces."

It has been four months since Hurricane Matthew tore through the state of Florida. And up the east coast. The hardest areas were in and around St Augustine. One of me and my kids favorites little quiet beaches is Washington Oaks Coquina Beach.
The beach side suffered extensive damage as did the surrounding areas, and had remained closed. As you drive south on A1A the damage is still very evident and heartbreaking. While many think all is back to normal , it is far from it. To some it is a new normal . What ever that may be. Our town took on the name St Augustine Strong. And we are and have been.
Our area still has a long way to go in the rebuilding process.
Today I took the short drive with a few of my children whom had not yet seen the extensive damage along A1A south. I had read in an email from The friends of Washington Oaks http://www.washingtonoaks.org/ that the coquina beach side had reopened! I videoed with my iphone the short drive there. And of course took many photos of the park to share with you all what it now looks like.
Driving into the park you see the trees and palms are all dead due to the ocean water that flooded. The new look of the parking lot was a surprise, half of the parking lot collapsed and there was still water to one side. The boardwalk, that was new was gone. The dunes and vegetation were gone. They put up a rubber like path as a short beach access.
The beach was totally changed. There were small pieces of coquina everywhere . But the large coquina rocks were still there. It is so much fun but you need to be careful and mindful of the incoming tide. The rocks are dangerous and slippery. My kids are accustomed to the coquina and I am right there with them.
There are many photos I hope you enjoy this beautiful place. Please look at the slideshow . Then take a look at this link from 2016 of the beach http://www.zenfolio.com/lisaolschewskephotography/e/p77417538
